Biography:

A Soviet and Kazakh director of animated films, artist, screenwriter. Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR. The pioneer of animation in Kazakhstan. Born in 1923. In 1941, he volunteered for the front. Participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. He was seriously wounded by a mine fragment near Kiev in 1943, after which he underwent several heavy operations. In 1950 he graduated from the Alma-Ata Art School. In the 1950s, he was a famous graphic artist, poster and caricature artist, an employee of the magazines "ARA" - "SHMEL", "Kazakstan Aielderi". In 1965 he graduated from the department of animators of VGIK (workshop of Professor Ivan Ivanov-Vano), a year later from the courses for directors at VGIK.

Since 1966 he was an artist, director and artistic director of the animated film workshop of the Kazakhfilm studio, directing its first animated film in 1967 and winning many international awards for it.
From 1975 to 1983 he was Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan.
From 1983 to 1991 he was Chairman of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan.

He had long pushed for the creation of a separate studio for animated film in Kazakhstan, which finally became reality with the founding of Kazakhmultfilm in 2013.
