The evil witch Mystan wants to turn the steppe into a desert, and only true friendship and a magic artifact can stop her. Based on a Kazakh folk tale.

The Kazakh folk take that it is based on seems to be "Алтын сақа", but it seems to be modified from the original.

The translation of the Russian word "bita" into English is uncertain. Its root is "to beat" (same root as in English) usually it means something that one beats with (such as a bat or a club), but that doesn't seem applicable in this case.

Scanned from 35mm film as part of the RuTracker scanning project in 2021.
