Description:

Two porcelain figures fall in love and decide to escape into the wide world. But were they really destined to be together? Based on the bittersweet 1845 fairy tale by H.C. Andersen.

An English translation of the original fairy tale can be read here.

This was not the first film by director Lev Atamanov to feature Ole Lukoye in the role of narrator - he first appeared in his famous 1957 feature film, The Snow Queen.

The first video above (with a duration of 28:52) is sharper and has much better colors, but is missing part of the frame on the right side. The second video (with a duration of 28:44) has more of the original frame visible (though not all), but is more fuzzy and dull, and has short bits of the film cut out throughout (resulting in the slightly shorter running time).
