Grandpa Frost (Santa Claus) lends his sparkling sleigh-like Star Shooter to a child in order to let him deliver a holiday tree to his father in Antarctica.

In 1962, the Diafilm Studio released the filmstrip "New Year's Journey".

I think this one is very mediocre, unfortunately - uninspired and unoriginal art direction, a silly script, a "Ded Moroz" who is too much like the Western Santa Claus, weak characters. Which surprises me, as it comes from the director of the really well-done "Wolf and Seven Little Goats" of only two years before.

Personally, I love this movie. It's simple, pure and child-friendly. It was strictly forbidden in the Soviet era to depict dreams, so this film is clever to avoid a censorship.
