Description:

Ecological film about cardinal fishes and human-caused water pollution.

Cardinal fishes, or Apogons, are a sea species that live on a depth of 200 meters or deeper, so are not so well known. Ecology and pollution became a popular Soviet subject in the period shortly after the Chernobyl disaster, when the film was made.

Interestingly, the Moldovan SSR was land-locked, without a sea or sea-coast (although many of those who lived there would have gone on vacation to the beach only a short way beyond its borders, to the south).

Scanned from 35mm film in 2023 as part of the RuTracker Animation Film Scanning project.
