Description:

Once upon a time, a cat owned a windmill. A charming but little-known animated feature from Latvia, based on a beloved story written in 1913 by Kārlis Skalbe.

A bit of English-language info can be found here.

The videos above are the Russian dub, which was shown just once on television in 1995, then never again. According to a 2010 interview with the director by a fan of the film, this may have been because the TV channel had not actually bought the rights.

The original Latvian version is not currently on Youtube.

Here is the original story of the film : Kaķīša Dzirņavas. This work seems to be very popular, and besides, it is based on a group of old religious legends in the Baltic countries.
