This episode, which features both crude, caustic humour (a hallmark of the Masyanya series) and real war footage, is representative of the viewpoint and arguments of Russian-speakers opposed to the Ukraine war in 2022, hundreds of thousands of whom soon emigrated from Russia to neighbouring states and Israel. The director and writer of the Masyanya series had lived in Israel since 2006, even though the characters of his series continued living in Moscow. Before this episode, the series does not seem to have mentioned the Ukraine war (which had been going on at a much lower intensity since 2014).

Following the release of this episode on March 22, 2022, Roskomnadzor notified the director that the series' official website would be blocked in Russia.
