Description:

Shakespeare: The Animated Tales, initiated in 1991, was the first major cooperation between Soyuzmultfilm and the Welsh TV channel S4C.

In Christmas 1989, a joint venture was founded called Christmas Films to make such a joined production possible. The series are introduced by this half hour making-of documentary which offers a unique tour through the old Soyuzmultfilm premises and interviews with the directors of the first 6 episodes of the series: Nikolay Serebryakov, Maria Muat, Yefim Gamburg, Robert Saakyants, Stanislav Sokolov and Natalya Orlova, including a demonstration of the techniques used & scenes from the animations made with it. Also, the scriptwriter Leon Garfield is interviewed.
