Description:

A little lion cub is told that, as king of beasts, he is the most brave, most strong, most wise and most beautiful of all. He then goes on an adventure where he discovers that this is not exactly true. For young children.

The first animated film directed by Vasiliy Livanov, who was the voice of Gena the Crocodile in the animated "Cheburashka" series and later portrayed Sherlock Holmes in the 1979 Soviet TV series.

There are some shared themes here with Disney's animated feature "The Lion King" (1995), as well as with Osamu Tezuka's contemporary "Kimba the White Lion" (1965-1967, with the earlier manga appearing in 1950-1954).
