Description:

A little wood-sprite, a fairy-like creature living in the swam-lands, steals a piece of bread from a lumberjack, and is forced by his relatives to make amends. So he helps the lumberjack fulfill one of his dreams. Based on a Lithuanian folk tale.

Lithuania was once part of the USSR and of the Russian Empire, but the current Lithuanian government is outspoken in their desire to not be part of the Russian Federation. However, in the 2021 Russian census, there were still 13,230 Lithuanians living in Russia (down from 31,377 in 2010) - 0.01% of the population.

Depending on one's point of view, devoting an episode of the "Mountain of Gems" series to a Lithuanian folk tale could be perceived as an insult and threat, or perhaps as a sign of respect for Lithuanian culture and a peace overture. In any case, it may be the most charming episode of the series from the last few years.

The animation is an entirely sung little musical. It is also a rare return to animation for Eduard Belyayev, who has only rarely been able to work on a film since the 1990s.
