Description:
A bear has come to say goodbye to his friend the frog for the winter, and tries to cheer her up.
Strolling away, he has an accident, and can't get back home to hibernate. The frog helps him keep warm and keep his spirits up until he recovers. But now the pond has frozen and the frog can't retire to a safe place to spend the winter. The bear hugs her and begins to hibernate. In the spring, the other frogs and the bear wake up. But the frog still seems to be asleep...
As was common at the time, both a Russian-language and a Ukrainian-language version of the film were released. The first video above is the Russian-language version, and the second one is the Ukrainian-language one. The subtitles were made for the Russian version, but should work for either.

Ah, now this is nostalgic. The feeling I get from this one is very uniquely of that era; also, I can't imagine this kind of melancholy, but sweet and sincere cartoon about friendship, loss and sacrifice ever being made in the West. The ending is wonderful in how it doesn't force upon the viewer any interpretation that they're not ready for.
