The quote from Zachary the Rhetor at the very beginning is actually fake. In the real quote, Zachary speaks of the "Yeros" people who are "men with enormous limbs, who have no weapons and whom horses cannot bear because of their limbs". The ethnonym "Ros/Rus" was not used by the people of the area until 300 years later, while the people in the film are known as the Antes. Also, their enemies would not have been the Khazars (who appeared no earlier than the 7th century) but the Avars.
