Description:

An еcological-themed story based on a tale by Konstantin Paustovsky.

A father and daughter live on a farmland that is going through a drought, that will destroy their crops and make their lands unlivable. The treefrog the girl has decides to help and calls in some help.

Directed by Leonid Aristov (1919-2009), based on a screenplay by Jeanna Vitenzon (b. 1929). Aristov was an experienced director (debut: The Straw bull calf, 1954) who at the end of his career helped start up the Ekran studio from 1970 onward. The Tree-frog was his last animation. In 1954 he was also art director in the first puppet animation (At the Dacha/На даче, Grigoriy Lomidze) made at the newly re-started puppetfilm Creative Association at Soyuzmultfilm (Puppet films stopped being made from 1939 until after Stalin's death in 1953).

Jeanna Vitenzon wrote over 44 scripts for animations between 1956 and 1990 for Soyuzmultfilm as well as Ekran. Several of them are true classics.

Although this film is animated primarily with puppet animation, there are a few short scenes of cel animation and even powder animation.
