Description:
This Russian folk tale tells of a soldier who, for his kindness to a wanderer, was gifted a wonderful sack with which he expelled evil spirits from a palace.
The first video above has nicer sound (though it's missing part of the opening credits), while the second and third have a nicer image.
Notes from Eus:
Rotoscoping or Éclair (tracing from live film footage) is much talked about in relation to Russian animation of the 40s & 50s, but factually there are only very few animations made with this technique. This is one of them. The voice & figure of the actor playing the role of the soldier is pretty recognizable for whoever knows his Russian film history.
