Description:

A black African man is visited by a gift-bearing white elephant who soon becomes an unwelcome guest. Based on "The Gentlemen of the Jungle", a parable by Jomo Kenyatta (the first Kenyan president) about the struggle of the peoples of Africa against the colonialists.

The Black man lived on his land, it generously gave him its fruits, for "he worked it very hard." But once, a White Elephant appeared on it with the words "what a rich land, I'm damn lucky to be the first of the animals here." The elephant treated the Man with a cigarette, gave him glossy magazines with beauties on the covers and bright advertisements. While the Man, flipping through magazines, joined "high civilization", Mr. Elephant unceremoniously gobbled up everything that he could and occupied the owner's house.

The film was released in the year of Kenya's independence from British rule. The original parable that the film was adapted from was written in 1938 by Kenya's first president, Jomo Kenyatta, and can be read here (PDF).
