Based on the Drawings of A. S. Pushkin
По рисункам А.С. Пушкина
Po risunkam A.S. Pushkina (ru)
Description:
An animated trilogy about the life of the great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin, created on the basis of his drawings, poems, letters, and the contemporary writings of others.
The music was composed by Alfred Schnittke, and the last two films also features folk songs performed/composed by the Dmitriy Pokrovskiy ensemble.
Lidiya Mayatnikova and Yuriy Norshteyn were lead animators in the second and third films.
In 1986 director Hrzhanovskiy and composer Schnittke received the State Prize of the RSFSR named after N.K. Krupskaya, for their work on these three films.
The first and second films appeared in a list of the 100 best Russian cartoons decided by the votes of directors/artists/critics who attended the 2012 Open Russian Festival of Animated Film, to supposedly mark the 100th anniversary of Russian animation (the earlier works of Shiryayev from ca. 1907 were not yet known then, so the starting point was considered the puppet films of Ladislas Starevich).
